Secret Lives, Swig Orders + So Many Lies
A brutally honest prep guide for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
There are two types of people in this world:
Those who watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives out of genuine curiosity, and those who say they didn’t — but know what “soft swinging” means now anyway.
SEASON 2 IS HERE!
If you’re like me — a Bravo-core, chaos-friendly reality TV fan who fell into this series thinking it was a harmless scroll and ended up neck-deep in Mormon girl drama — you’re going to need a little refresher.
Or…you’ve never watched it and just want to know the drama. I feel ya.
So here it is: The story of how an Utah TikTok mom squad turned into Hulu’s messiest reality show. How we got started. What’s happened. What to expect..?
And yes, Fruity Pebbles are involved. lol
Let’s start with the swing heard round Utah.
In 2022, influencer mom Taylor Frankie Paul got on TikTok to announce her divorce… and casually mentioned that she and her husband had been “soft swinging” with other couples in their close-knit LDS friend group.
What is soft swinging, you ask? Allegedly: partner swapping, minus full-blown sex. Unless someone breaks the rules — which Taylor did. With her friend Kenna’s husband. Oops.
Divorces followed. Friendships imploded. Taylor went full confessional, the rest of the group went full denial, and Hulu went: greenlight it.
WHO IS WHO?
The group is introduced and immediately put in two groups
The “Saints”: Whitney, Jen, Mayci, Mikayla
The “Sinners”: Taylor, Demi, Jessi, Layla
Let’s meet ‘em!
TAYLOR
She gets arrested in episode one for throwing a mini playset or a chair (we’re still not totally sure…I think) during a drunken fight with her boyfriend Dakota. A child is accidentally hit. She calls it rock bottom. Hulu calls it great television.
DEMI
Demi came in hot as one of Taylor’s closest allies, quick with the sass and even quicker to stir the pot. She threw shade, played pranks (hello, Fruity Pebbles), and clashed hard with the “Saints,” especially Whitney. By the end of the season, she was deeply entrenched in the drama, fully Team Sinners, and clearly ready to bring even more heat in Season 2.
JESSI
Jessi stood firmly in the “sinners” camp, loyal to Taylor and always ready to speak her mind — especially when it came to calling out Whitney at Layla’s divorce party. She didn’t get as much screen time as others, but when she did, it counted: quick reads, sharp one-liners, and zero tolerance for fakeness. By the end of the season, she was solidly aligned with Taylor and Demi, unfazed by the chaos and ready for round two.
LAYLA
Layla entered the season newly divorced and trying to own her independence with a bold divorce party — but things got messy fast when Whitney showed up uninvited and Jessi called her out. She aligned herself with the “sinners,” especially Taylor, Jessi, and Demi, and mostly tried to stay out of the drama while still being in the middle of it. By the finale, she was quietly clocking the group dynamics, throwing shade on TikTok, and keeping receipts.
WHITNEY
Whitney returned to Utah from Hawaii claiming it was to escape Taylor’s scandal, but later admitted her marriage was struggling due to her husband’s alleged vices. She tried to rejoin the group, but clashed hard with the “sinners,” especially at Layla’s divorce party, where Jessi called her out and Whitney stormed out. By the end of the season, Whitney had clearly been iced out and left MomTok behind — at least for now.
JEN
Jen tried to play peacemaker but quickly drew lines by disinviting half the group from her baby’s blessing, putting her firmly in the “Saints” camp. Her marriage to Zac unraveled during the group Vegas trip after a blowout fight post-Chippendales, and she left early in tears. By the finale, she announced she was stepping back from the group — emotionally, spiritually, and on social media.
MAYCI
Mayci spent most of the season trying to be the emotional glue of the group — hosting events, asking deep questions, and trying to keep the peace. But her “Truth Box” birthday trip backfired when it opened old wounds and exposed tensions she couldn’t fix. By the end of the season, she was emotionally exhausted, pregnant, and clearly over being everyone’s unpaid group therapist.
MIKAYLA
Mikayla stayed mostly on the sidelines, aligned with the “Saints,” and focused on healing from her past trauma while supporting her close friends. She opened up about emotional struggles and leaned into therapy and motherhood more than group gossip. By the end of the season, she was a calming presence in the chaos — the kind of cast member who brings snacks and sage instead of shade.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE CAMERAS STOPPED ROLLING? A LOT
Taylor vs. Kenna (Round 2)
BUT FIRST, Let’s meet Kenna.
Kenna Gibbons is a former MomTok influencer and ex-wife of Brayden Rowley, best known for being at the center of the original soft-swinging scandal with Taylor Frankie Paul — and for reigniting the drama on TikTok in late 2024 with a five-part tell-all.
Taylor clapped back with a kissing video and “I wish I was kissing you” texts from Kenna, flipping the narrative. The feud exploded into full-blown drama, and Hulu cameras were allegedly rolling the whole time.
The Affleck’s
Jen and her husband Zac’s relationship unraveled in Season 1 after a blowout fight during the group’s Vegas trip, sparked by a tense night at Chippendales that left her in tears and leaving early. Viewers didn’t warm to Zac — criticizing his cold demeanor, dismissiveness, and the couple’s constant moves — and Jen repeatedly hinted online that a divorce might be coming. But after a brief separation, a little ketamine therapy (yes, really), and what looked like a soft rebrand, Jen and Zac reconciled — and now she’s pregnant again.
Italy trip turned friendship fallout
Demi, Jessi, Layla, and Jen go to Italy to celebrate Jen moving. Rumors fly that Demi had a thing with a Vanderpump Villa cast member. Demi denies it. Jessi doesn’t believe her. Everyone unfollows everyone.
MIRANDA
Taylor’s ex-bestie Miranda — remember her from the original scandal? She’s back. Divorced. Changed her last name. Walks into Season 2 like it’s her redemption arc. The trailer moment? “Wait… is that Miranda?” Yup.
Baby boom
Whitney has baby #3
Mayci gets pregnant via IVF
Mikayla’s expecting, too
Jen’s back with Zac and pregnant after ketamine therapy (not kidding)
Where they stand now — the cast, the chaos, the vibes:
Taylor: Still the center of the storm. Baby in one arm, drama in the other.
Whitney: In her redemption era. Rebuilding friendships. Probably not RSVP’ing to Layla’s next party.
Demi: Denies the Italy scandal. Not speaking to Jessi. Still stylish and still sharp.
Jessi: Cut Demi off. Loyal to Taylor. Possibly planning a tell-all.
Layla: Caught in the crossfire, trying to just be hot and healed.
Mayci: Pregnant, peaceful, and professionally done with the group’s nonsense.
Mikayla: Pregnant, healing from trauma, posting soft content while everyone else fights.
Jen: Back with Zac, maybe back in the group, probably still haunted by Chippendales.
Miranda: Plot twist queen. Re-entering the friend group with a bang (and a past).
Season 2: What we’re walking into
Someone throws hands. The police get called.
Demi and Jessi’s friendship goes full Bravo fallout.
Dakota’s loyalty gets tested again.
Miranda walks back into the friend group.
Fruity Pebbles make a comeback. Spiritually, if not physically.
Someone is crying, someone is confessing, and someone is about to hit “unfollow.”
Final thoughts (and friendly reminders)
These women are former Mormon influencers balancing faith, fame, babies, brand deals, trauma, and TikTok comments — all while hosting girls’ trips and side-eyeing each other.
Some sip dirty sodas instead of wine. But the drama? Intoxicating.
It’s Bravo energy, just with more Diet Coke and fewer NDA clauses.
Season 2 is on Hulu.
